What is Smart Commute?

Smart Commute Central York (SCCY) is a program of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Metrolinx (an agency of the Government of Ontario), the Region of York and the Town of Newmarket. 

This award winning program works with businesses in Newmarket, Aurora and East Gwillimbury to develop customized transportation solutions for their employees.

Our Goals:

• to ease traffic congestion by reducing single occupant vehicle trips
• to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
• to inspire commuters to embrace alternative sustainable transportation options like public transit, carpooling, teleworking, biking and walking
• to help commuters save money on their daily commute
