May 2008 - Metrolinx and the Regions of Halton, Peel, York and Durham along with the Cities of Hamilton, Mississauga and Toronto were recently awarded the 2008 Federation of Canadian Municpalities CH2M Hill Sustainable Community Award for Transportation for initiating the Smart Commute program.
